The Plains Series

The Continuing Saga of the Mountain Men Who Discovered Our Great Nations Secrets and Fought to Stay Alive While Doing It.

“In the Shadow of the Mountain” Jed and Mule are trading whiskey to the Indians for beaver pews, when they are asked by the army to attempt to stop a war potential with the Sioux by returning some women captives to them. Unknown to the two mountain men, the women are the wife and daughter of the Sioux Chief, Bull Buffalo. Returning the captives creates some unusual problems for the two rough mountain men as they rescue a black man named George and end up trailing a group of buffalo hunters bent on killing all the shaggy beasts they can find. "Red Runs the Plains" Rescued from certain death during a blizzard by two old mountain men, young Jarel Wade discovers a new way of life. As he rides the mountain trails with the two older men, they uncover a plot by a retired British Army officer to force American fur trappers from the mountains and to establish a fur company with little competition. The British Major sends a group of forty mountain men to join forces with the Blackfoot Indians with orders to either run the Americans from the mountains, or kill them. Jarel must either stop the Major, or die in the attempt. (To be published by Tree Side Press)

"Death on the Mountain" Jarel is hired by an old miner to bring thousands of dollars in gold nuggets down from the mountains. The miner's daughter continues the trip even after her father is killed by Indians. When the Sioux find out Jarel is leading whites to their sacred mountains, a brave is sent to kill him. It is up to Zee and Teacher, along with Jarel, to defuse the situation with the Sioux and yet help the young woman recover her wealth.
